GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) Requip is used to treat both Parkinson’s disease and severe cases of restless leg syndrome.
The drug comes off patent on 19 May 2008, and Israeli drug company Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has received tentative approval from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for their generic version of tablets.
U.S. sales of the drug are about $455 million a year.
