Teva Sues Kyowa Hakko for Patent Infringement

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., Israel’s largest pharmaceutical company and the world’s leading generic drug manufacturer has apparently filed a patent lawsuit against Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co. with the Tokyo District Court.
Teva claims that the Japanese company is infringing a patent owned by Teva’s Hungarian subsidiary that relates to a method of synthesizing a cholesterol lowering drug, and is seeking a court order to force the Japanese company to destroy its supply of the drug as well as halt production and sales in Japan.
