Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd suffered a setback recently when the Delaware District Court found the patent on the widely-used acid reflux drug Prevacid was valid and enforceable. The drug has annual sales of about $2.3 billion and is owned held by TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc, a collaboration of Japan’s Takeda Pharmaceutical Co Ltd and Abbott Laboratories.
Teva had applied to sell generic versions of delayed release Prevacid, known (lansoprazole), in 15 milligram and 30 mg doses, and have announced that they will be appealing the decision.
