Ronaldo files trademark application, fuelling rumours he’s planning transfer to Real Madrid.

A trademark application for the digits “CR9″ has been registered by Christiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes at the National Institute of Industrial Property in Lisbon.

Ronaldo, the footballe, currently plays in a No 7 shirt for Manchester United (a trademark client of JMB, Fa(c)tor & Co.), and has reportedly been promised the No 9 shirt by the Spanish club Real Marid.

Ronaldo already owns CR7 as a trademark. Rumors that the 23-year-old superstar who is FIFA’s player of the year is planning a move to Real Madrid are not new. Ronaldo is apparently learning Spanish and has a sponsorship deal with a Portuguese bank giving them exclusive marketing rights if he goes to Spain. Ronaldo has apparently been offered £11m per year (£210,000 a week), plus £7.25m for his agent.
